GEORGE W. COOK AGE: 67 EDISON Lt. George W. Cook died from a heart attack yesterday at home. He was 67. He was born in New Brunswick and lived most of his life in Edison. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Honor Legion. He retired in 1989 after 29 years as a lieutenant with the Edison Police Police Department. He was a founding member of the Elks at Old Post Road, Edison. He was a gunsmith and a certified certified instructor of firearms with the Edison Firearms League. His wife, Carol M. Braender, died on April 15. A son, George, and a brother, Douglas, also are deceased. Surviving are a son, Kevin of Edison; Edison; two daughters, Barbara Op-pelt Op-pelt Op-pelt of Claremont, Fla., and Jacqueline Jacqueline Regan of Edison; a brother, Robert Davenport of Vera Beach, Fla.; a sister, Lois of Edison, and eight grandchildren. The funeral will be 9:15 a.m. Thursday from Rusciano Funeral Home, 75 Woodbridge Ave., Highland Highland Park, followed by a 10:30 a.m. service at First Baptist Church of Metuchen.
