Helen D. Conaty, retired underwriter NORTH PLAINFIELD Helen D. Orlowski Conaty, 82, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1992) at Villa Maria here. Mrs.

Conaty was born in Jersey City and lived there and in Montclair before moving to North Plainfield three years ago. She was an insurance underwriter for Marsh McLennan Insurance Co. of New York City for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Her husband, John R. Conaty, died in 1971.

Surviving are a son, John R. Conaty of Martinsville; a daughter, Sharyn C. Wilson of Alexandria, two sisters, Emily Holtz of South Kingstown, R.I., and Harriet Mysiuk of Woodcliff Lake; and two grandchildren. Dolt, 73, formerly of Plainfield, died Nov. 28, 1992, at home in Wallingford, Vt. Mr. Dolt was born in Chicago and had lived in Plainfield before moving to Vermont. He was a graduate of the Peddie School and Duke University.

Mr. Dolt served in the Army during World War II in Italy and France and was awarded a Bronze Star. His wife, Doris Dolt, died in 1990. Surviving are two stepsons, Lee Houghton of Wallingford, and Dr. Jonathan Houghton of Edmonds, two sisters, Marjorie Cregar and Jeanne Dolt of Warren; and a brother, Robert of Warren; four grandsons and three great-grandsons.

By STEVEN COLEMAN Courier-News Staff Writer A Delaware Township man charged this week with fondling the legs of women and girls while they shopped in supermarkets was out on parole at the time of his arrest for a rape committed in Somerset County, officials said Friday. Federico Richard Fernandez, 46, charged Wednesday with criminal sexual contact and aggravated sexual contact in connection with two of the incidents, was released on parole on Feb. 28, 1989, said Patricia Mulcahy, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections. Mulcahy said Fernandez was sentenced to an indeterminate 30-year prison term on April 14, 1978, on charges of rape and carnal abuse in Somerset County. His parole would have expired on Dec.

18, 2007, she said. In the recent case, police contend Fernandez squirted dishwashing detergent on females' buttocks, then apologized and wiped it off. In the process, police said, the man's hands moved along the victim's legs. Raritan Township police have charged Fernandez with two of the sexual assaults, one of which occurred Wednesday on a 35-year-old woman and the other on Nov. 25 on a 13-year-old girl, said Lt.

Donald Montross. Montross also said police received calls from at least 30 other? police departments in New Jersey and Pennsylvania who believe Fernandez may have been responsible for similar incidents in their towns. Tibor Louis DeDobeau back to prison New Jersey Eichin, bleeding, was spotted walking on Route 173 in the township by a motorist who drove to another nearby tavern, the Landslide Saloon, to call police. Soon afterward, Eichin walked into the parking lot of the Landslide and the tavern owner summoned an ambulance. Marion T.

Mesler, personal secretary Marion T. Mesler, formerly of Plainfield, died Thursday (Dec. 3, 1992) at West Florida Regional Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Mrs. Mesler was born in North Plainfield and had lived in Plainfield before moving to Pensacola, three years ago.

She was the personal secretary to Chauncy Stout, former publisher of The Courier-News. Mrs. Mesler was a member of First Park Baptist Church, the Monday Afternoon Club and the Cosmopolitan Club, all of Plainfield. Her husband, Harry R. Mesler died in 1972.

Surviving are three sons, Robert A. Mesler of Pensacola, Donald T. of New York City and Craig R. of Westbrook, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m.

Elizabeth Martin Burns, retired church secretary reinsurance firm chairman SOUTH PLAINFIELD Elizabeth Martin Burns, 83, died Friday (Dec. 4, 1992) at Greenbrook Manor Nursing home in Green Brook. Mrs.

Burns was born in Chester, and had lived in Haverton, before moving to South Plainfield in 1981. She was a church secretary and bookkeeper for more than 20 years at St. George's Episcopal Church in Ardmore, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Plainfield. Her husband, Norman M.

Burns, died in 1971. Surviving are a son, Norman M. Burns of North Plainfield; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Services will be held Tuesday at St. George's Church in Ardmore, Pa.

Arrangements are by Higgins Home for Funerals in North Plainfield. Joseph Robert Aspland, BEDMINSTER Joseph Robert Aspland, 64, died Friday (Dec. 4, 1992) at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Aspland was born in New Haven, and had lived in Levittown, and Barrington, before moving to Bedminster six years ago.

He was president and chairman of the board and chief executive officer of North Star Reinsurance Corp. in Florham Park for years, retiring in December 1991. Before that, he was employed by AllState Reinsurance Co. in North Brook, for seven years. He was a member of the La Boheme Society of Trenton and the Pro Bass Association of Missouri.

He was a graduate of Rider College in Lawrenceville, receiving a bachelor's degree in business management. He also received executive training at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Mass. He served in the Army from 1946 to 1948. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Bushey Aspland; a son, Mark S. of Cornelius, N.C.; a daughter, Shelley L.

Ketterer of Newtown, a brother, Roy, and a sister, Elsie Del Grego, both of Connecticut; and four grandchildren. Private arrangements are by Layton Funeral Home in Bedminster. There will be no meeting on Monday. POLICE FIRE BRIDGEWATER Kenneth Rupp, 22, of the Pittstown section of Franklin (Hunterdon) was charged Thursday with driving while intoxicated on Route 22. A resident of the 600 block of Second Street reported Tuesday he was robbed of $50 by a youth who assaulted him in the kitchen of his home, then threatened him with a toy gun which fell apart during a brief scuffle. Police said the youth knocked on the back door about 6 p.m. and asked if a friend was there.

When told he wasn't, the boy, described as about 15, with dark hair and thin build, left, but returned a short time later, asking the resident for money for cigarettes: The victim told police he handed him a dollar, and the boy told him to put it back in his wallet. At that point, the victim said, the boy forced his way in, grabbed the wallet after drawing a gun, and took $50. Police said they are reassembling the plastic gun and checking it for fingerprints. FANWOOD Irving Vanderveer, 30, of Scotch Plains, was charged Tuesday with possession of drug paraphernalia after police investigated a report of a dispute on South Avenue. Diane Valente, 33, of Belleville, was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated on South Avenue.

Three 19-year-old South Plainfield residents, Leanne Rondi, Sheri Heaslip and Daniel Lubach, were charged last Saturday with underage possession of alcohol on Terrill Road. FRANKLIN (Somerset) A Hyde Park Road resident was arrested Thursday for allegedly purchasing $15,000 worth of clothing and other items with a fraudulent credit card. Donna M. 45, was charged with counts of frauduCoin lently obtaining a credit card, 12 counts of fraudulent use of a credit card and 12 counts of theft by deception. The investigation began in September when a resident reported that someone had been using her name, her employer and her Social Security card number to obtain credit.

Coln-Watts is being held in Somerset County Jail on $25,000 bail. GREEN BROOK Two bank bags were reported stolen from a safe at Strike Spare Lanes, Route 22, Sunday morning. Gary Conley, 31, of 147 Jefferson was charged Sunday with assault under the Domestic Violence Act. Clothing and two pool cues were reported stolen from a car at Beach Camera, Route 22, Sunday. Grant, 22, of 1 Stanford Drive, Bridgewater, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated and disregarding a red light at Rock Avenue and Route 22. MIDDLESEX Carol M. Murphy, 37, of the Pittstown section of Franklin (Hunterdon) was charged early Friday with driving while intoxicated. Police said they stopped her on Lincoln Boulevard after Piscataway police alerted them the car had left the scene of an accident on River Road at 2 a.m. A stereo was reported stolen Thursday from a car on Gail Gary Road.

Piotr Bujwid, 28, of Manville, was charged Wednesday with driving while intoxicated on Bound Brook Road. Jemell Fern Powell, 20, of Springfield, was arrested Sunday morning following a chase which ended when a car the suspect was driving struck a porch at Hampton Gardens Apartments. Police said State Police began chasing the suspect on Interstate Route 287 in South Plainfield. They said the car had been stolen from a dealership in Springfield and had plates stolen in Plainfield. Powell is being held on $30,000 bail at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center after being charged with possession of the stolen car and numerous motor vehicle violations.

Edward J. Fasanella, 31, of Bound Brook, is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center on $10,000 bail following his arrest Monday charges of aggravated assault on Patrolman Eugene Stringer. Police said the assault took place while Stringer was arresting Fasanella in connection with the theft of two purses from shopping carts at Pathmark on Lincoln Boulevard. A radio was reported stolen Saturday from a car on South Lincoln Avenue. NORTH PLAINFIELD Bernadette Ogrodnic, 40, of Roselle Park, was charged Wednesday with driving while intoxicated.

Police said her car struck a pole on Route 22. Three young Piscataway men were charged Thursday night with assaulting a 17-year-old Green Brook youth outside a home on Harrison Avenue. Police said David G. Doeffinger, 18, of 3 Ruth Place; Craig L. Russell, 18, of 244 Davis and Gregory Michalsky, 19, of 60 12th were picked up after police spotted a car matching the description of the vehiwhich the assailants left the scene.

PLAINFIELD Four people were charged Thursday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute after police searched 148 E. Fifth where Saundra Williams, 28, and Luz two of the suspects, reside. Also charged were Donald Mackson, 38, of 909 Park and Duease Myers 38, of 111 E. Fifth St. Allan Jordan, 32, of 112 Netherwood was charged Thursday with assault under the Domestic Violence Act in the 600 block of South Avenue.

Robert Smokes, 25, of 705 W. Third was charged Thursday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute near his home. A camera and jewelry were reported stolen Thursday in a burglary at a home in the 1300 block of Chetwynd Avenue. Clyde W. Brooks, 36, of 959 Carnegie was charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of school property.

Police said Brooks was the lone occupant when they searched a home by forcing open a locked front door which also was barricaded. A VCR and two televisions were reported stolen Thursday in a burgiary, in the 1300 block of Cushing SOMERVILLE A 21-year-old Raritan woman reported $203 in food stamps were stolen from her notebook Wednesday while she was attending a class at Micro Technology, 30 S. Doughty Ave..
