JANUARY 23, 2008 HOME NEWS TRIBUNE www.thnt.com B3 OBITUARIES FLORENCE AMODIO AGE: 74 MONROE Florence (Wetzel) Amodio died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at her home in Clearbrook, Monroe Township. She was 74. Born and raised in Nanticoke, she later lived in New Brunswick and Fords before moving to Clearbrook in 1973. Mrs.

Amodio was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church and a former president of its Altar Rosary Society. As a founding member of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, she volunteered in the church office for the past 14 years. Mrs.

Amodio had a particular passion for the game of golf. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael in 1992; her brother, Philip Amodio, in 1973; and her parents, Richard Wetzel and Anna (Studna). She is survived by her daughter, Michele Amodio of Whitestone, N.Y.; her brother, Charles Wetzel of Bel Air, three sisters, Helen Kaftan of Southington, Anne Buckley of Mt. Airy, and Frances Shumosic and her husband, Thomas, of Newark, Delaware; her sister-in-law, Anne DeSarlo of Old Bridge; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Thursday, Jan. 24, at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township, (732) 521-0555, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe Township, followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

For directions, please visit www.demarcofuneralhome.com. GEORGE BALEWITZ SR. AGE: 64 PERTH AMBOY George S. Balewitz 64, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.

Born in Perth Amboy, he was a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of St. Stephen's R.C. Church in Perth Amboy. He worked for William Grant and Sons in Edison for 30 years.

He was a member of the Perth Amboy Fire Department Engine Co. 5 where he formerly served as captain. Surviving are his sons, Michael Balewitz of Cincinnati, Ohio, Edward Balewitz Sr. and his wife, Robyn, of Kendall Park, George Balewitz Jr. of North Brunswick and Stanley Balewitz of Perth Amboy; a daughter, Lisa and her husband, Michael Balewitz-Dolan of Woodbridge; and his grandchildren, Nicollette, Zachery, Dymond, Jennah, Hailey, Korey, Alyna, Samantha and Edward Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday at Zylka Funeral Home, 513-515 State Perth Amboy, followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Stephen's Church, Perth Amboy. Burial will be at Alpine Cemetery in Perth Amboy.

Friends may call 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. DR. LOUIS FISHMAN AGE: 86 HIGHTSTOWN Dr. Louis Fishman, 86, of Hightstown died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at home.

Husband of the late Rosemary Fishman, he is survived by three children, Andrea Fishman of New York City, Barbara Fishman of Hopewell, N.J., and Douglas Fishman of Cabin John, and four grandchildren. The family is sitting Shiva between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. and between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

through Sunday, Jan. 27, at his home in Meadow Lakes. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of A.S. Cole Funeral Home, 22 North Main Cranbury.

EDITH I GALLAGHER AGE: 92 EAST BRUNSWICK Edith Anne Gallagher, 92, of East Brunswick died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in South Amboy, Ms. Gallagher resided in Old Bridge for many years before moving to East Brunswick nine years ago. A very private person, Ms.

Gallagher was the daughter of the late John Manning and Rose (Werner) Gallagher. She was also predeceased by her niece, Rita Puritz, and her brothers, Frank Gallagher Charles Gallagher. Surviving are her niece, Rose Bullock of Edison, and many great-nieces and greatnephews. Graveside funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan.

CLEMENT HILLS AGE: 92 SAYREVILLE of Sayreville passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. Born in South River, he has resided in Sayreville for the past 80 years.

Before his retirement 31 years ago he was employed by Hercules Inc. in Parlin for over 40 years as a purchasing agent and the supervisor. He was a charter member of the South River Elks where he served as a former treasurer and secretary, was the founder of the Seagulls Men's Club in Sayreville, was a member and past Commodore of the Sayreville Marine Club and volunteered for the Our Lady of Victory Boy Scouts. He was predeceased by his wife, Clare: Lois Smith Hills, who died in 1985; his son, James Hills; his sister, Constance Bailey; his brother, Roland Hills; and his lifelong best friend, Gerry Butler. Surviving are his daughters, Lois Kost of Sayreville, and Jean Birndorf and her husband, Wayne, of Fairless Hills, his sons, Stephen Hills and his wife, Dolores, of Vero Beach, and George Hills and his wife, Theresa, of Jackson; eight grandchildren, and nine at grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main Sayreville, with burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Calling hours will be 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Thursday at funeral home.

"Spots" Hills, 92, AGE: 83 EAST BRUNSWICK Retired Sergeant Major Jack T. Hollifield, 83, of Port Orange, passed away Monday, Jan. 7,2008. He was born May 12, 1924, in Shelby, N.C., the son of Crowell and Rose Hollifield. He moved to Florida in 1979 from East Brunswick.

He was also a former Military Training Instructor at the Fork Union Military Academy of Virginia, and taught ROTC at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Virginia. After retiring from the military he worked at AMAX, U.S. Metals Refining Company in Carteret.

He was the Chief of Security, and later was promoted to the Department Head of Handling and Transportation. Although baptized Methodist, he attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of both the D.A.V. Post 84 and the Sergeants Major Association. He was also a member of the 7th Infantry Division Association, A.U.S.A., American Legion Post 360, the Army Chapter of The Chosin Few, and The Korean War ExPOW Association.

He was an avid sportsman, loved golf and even had two holes-in-one. He also loved playing guitar, and excelled at carpentry. He above all loved and family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 35 years, Veronica Kearney Hollifield; children, Barry Hollifield, Jacqueline Tart, Diane Strickler, Rose Marie Melchior, and Christopher Hollifield; stepsons, Fred Carl and Frank Carl; his sister, Annabelle Williams; father-in-law, Michael Palinkas; 17 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Edith; his sisters, Myrtle Hollifield and Mabel Williams; his brother, Howard Hollifield; and his grandson, Christopher S.

Hollifield, USMC. A memorial service will be held on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell, Fla. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Colony in the Wood Clubhouse, Daytona Beach, Fla.

HORVATH AGE: 82 HOPELAWN fuLouis J. Horvath, 82, of Hopelawn passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at his son's home in North Carolina. Mr. Horvath was born in Hopelawn and was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Horvath was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran. He was employed by American Smelting and Refinery in Perth Amboy for 30 years before working for the Woodbridge Township Board of Education for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He was a communicant of Holy Spirit R.C.

BRIAN C. JONES AGE: 47 HAZLET found peace on Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. Brian C. Jones, 47, of Hazlet, He was born in Baltimore, and was a graduate of Parkville High School.

He worked for Roy Rogers throughout Baltimore and for Marriott International in Savage, prior to transferring to Edison, N.J. In 1997 he joined the Marin Management Team. He worked at Leonardo and Aberdeen McDonald's, where he truly enjoyed the relationships he built with his team, his loyal customers, area teachers and local police departments. Brian was always eager to raise money for the "Ronald House," even dressing up as a very convincing Santa. No clubs or affiliations to list, as Brian dedicated every waking moment to his wife, Susan (Shaw) Jones, their 10-year-old "Little Man" Brandon, and, Su's mom, Claire Shaw of Keansburg.

Upon his arrival in Heaven, he was greeted by his mom and dad, Frances (Thompson) and James Herbert Jones, and his Best Man, Terry Hoen, of Parkville, his father law, James N.
